Note: This article only applies to NATS version 4.1 and higher. If you wish to upgrade your installation of NATS in order to take advantage of this feature, please put in a support ticket.
NATS4.1 now contains an "Affiliate Analytics" feature, which allows Google Analytics tracking to be used side-by-side with NATS. By enabling the use of Google Analytics in NATS4.1, you can track a wide variety of statistics in the Affiliate Area Pages.
By doing so, you can analyze commonly-used affiliate pages in NATS, and see what the most popular NATS features and affiliate area pages amongst your affiliates are.
Setting Up Google Analytics
Before you can enable the use of Google Analytics with NATS4.1, however, you must first sign up for a Google Analytics account. You can do so on the Google Analytics website, located at: http://www.google.com/analytics/. Simply follow the instructions provided on Google's site to begin your setup.
When setting up your site(s) in Google Analytics, make sure to take down the Web Property ID (this generally begins with "UA") that they provide for you. Google Analytics provides you with a unique Web Property ID for each NATS installation that you configure here, so make sure to choose the NATS4.1 installation that you wish to track with Google Analytics.
Setting Up Affiliate Analytics in NATS
If you wish to enable the use of affiliate analytics tracking in NATS4.1, go to the Configuration Admin.
Locate the "Affiliate Analytics" section of the "Home" page in the Configuration Admin. This section contains two configuration settings:
- TRACK_AFFILIATE_GOOGLE_ANALYTICS - Fill in the provided checkbox to enable Google Analytics tracking of your NATS affiliate area pages.
- GOOGLE_ANALYTICS_PROPERTY_ID - Fill in the Web Property ID that Google Analytics provided for you when signing up. If you did not receive this Property ID, please contact Google Analytics' support.
Each NATS installation that you configure with Google Analytics will have its own Web Property ID, so make sure you fill the correct value into this field.
Once you have set your "Affiliate Analytics" settings to your desired specifications, click "Store Changes" at the bottom of the page. Your NATS4.1 installation will now be configured to allow Google Analytics to track your NATS Affiliate Area Pages.
If you have a custom skin setup in NATS, you will want to ensure that both the external_header and affiliate_header templates include the following in the <head> of the page:
{include file="nats:include_google_analytics"}
